SONY TO RELEASE POCKET-SIZE NOTEBOOK PC
TOKYO, Jan 09, 2009 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX News Network) -- Sony Corp. (TSE:6758) on Thursday
announced that it will begin selling a pocket-size notebook PC
just slightly larger than an envelope on Jan. 16.
The new Vaio Type P measures 245mm wide, 120mm deep and
19.8mm tall and weighs 634 grams. It features an 8-inch,
1,600-by-768 pixel display with an ultrawide aspect ratio and
comes with built-in communications functions.
The PC comes in white, red or green, with black also
available if ordered online. Pricing will be open, but the Vaio
Type P is expected to sell for around 100,000 yen (US$1099).
Sony hopes to stimulate new demand by distinguishing its new
offering from the rapidly growing field of inexpensive PCs
priced around 50,000 yen.
