Daimler AG reports continued fall in sales for US Mercedes-Benz Cars division

Jan 06, 2009 (M2 EQUITYBITES via COMTEX News Network) -- Daimler AG (NYSE: DAI), a developer, manufacturer, distributor and
seller of automotive products and vehicles, reported on 5 January sales
of 20,848 units for the US Mercedes-Benz Cars division (Mercedes-Benz
and smart combined) in December 2008.

This is a decrease of 23.5% compared with December 2007.

Mercedes-Benz USA reported 18,507 vehicles sold in December, bringing
the company's 2008 total volume to 225,128, which is down 11.2% from
the previous year's annual sales. Sales of the C-Class model line rose
13.8% for the year and sales of the M-Class SUV line-up increased by
1.3%. smart USA sold 2,341 vehicles in December 2008 and its
year-to-date sales were 24,622 units in its first year of business in
the United States.
