OLDWICK, N.J., Dec 31, 2008 (A. M. Best via COMTEX News Network) -- The AMBG closed Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 713.46 (+2.55%). Of the 15 A.M. Best stock indexes, 14 rose and one declined. Leading A.M. Best's Global Insurance Composite Index (AMBG) were Atlantic American Corp. (+35.94%) and Affirmative Insurance Holdings Inc. (+26.21%). Trailing the list of global insurance stocks were Gainsco (-27.32%) and National Security Group (-17.72%).

The U.S. Health and HMO Insurance Index led the sector indexes, with the Asia/Pacific Insurance Index trailing the list. In descending order, the A.M. Best Insurance Stock Indexes closed at:
